Where on Google Earth #535

WoGE #534 by Andrew Giles was not an easy search, a long hunt through the permafrost on the northern hemisphere. It ended up in the area of Lake Husky in the Northwest Territories of Canada where a valley is waiting to be flooded caused by a permafrost thaw.

The next one is up to you to find....

Rules, tips and previous WoGEs are collected by Felix on his blog and a KML file is available with all WoGEs.

  1. Sedona, Arizona, USA.

A place of fascinating geology - with many layers of rock visible in the area. Evidence that at one time, this part of the world was under an ocean that filled up with different type of particles that now can be seen as layers of rock. The red colour of the rocks is from hematite staining the sandstone layers.

The canyon coming into the picture from the top/north is the Oak Creek Canyon, part of the second most visited tourist spot in Arizona (after the Grand Canyon).
